Woman Critically Injured In Concord Apartment Fire Dies
CONCORD (CBS SF) -- A 34-year-old woman who was critically injured in a fire at her Concord home on Monday died Wednesday morning, a fire official said.
Concord resident Elise English was taken off of life support Wednesday morning after two days of treatment for injuries suffered in a two-alarm apartment fire, Fire Marshal Lewis Broschard said.
Fire crews arriving at the apartment in the 5200 block of Clayton Road around 1:40 p.m. Monday found English in the apartment's living room where the fire started, unconscious and not breathing.
Fire and rescue personnel brought her out of the apartment and administered CPR, then took her to a nearby hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.
English's roommate was not home at the time of the fire and no other injuries were reported.
Broschard said the apartment appeared to be equipped with working smoke detectors.
The cause of the blaze, which heavily damaged the apartment and reached eight other units, remains under investigation, he said.
