Woman Arrested For Assaulting Older Relative With Iron In Fremont
FREMONT (CBS SF) -- A 27-year-old woman is in jail Wednesday after allegedly hitting an older family member with an iron in Fremont on Tuesday afternoon, police said.
Officers were called to a home on Junipero Common near Niles Boulevard around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday after a woman in her mid-60s called to report that she was bleeding, according to police.
The woman initially told officers that she had fallen but later admitted that a relative had struck and injured her with an iron, police said.
Police found the suspect, identified as Ashley Clark, and arrested her on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, police spokeswoman Officer Geneva Bosques said.
While officers were interviewing her around 11 p.m., Clark became ill and fell to the floor. She was taken to a hospital where she was evaluated, Bosques said.
The suspect was later taken to the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin, where she was booked around 4 a.m. and remained Wednesday.
