Whitman's Millions Target Latino Vote
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)_ Finance reports filed on Monday show Meg Whitman spending $19 million in the five weeks between May 23rd and June 30th compared to Jerry Brown's $131 thousand. Most of that $19 million was for radio and television ads targeting Latino voters.
Meanwhile Brown says he's got about $24 million in the bank and is just waiting for the right time to use it.

"I find it absolutely astounding that after the expenditure of $110 million, the race is still a tie. I would assume in the weeks ahead she [Whitman] might gain some ground because of this enormous spending," said Brown.
Bruce Cain is the Heller Professor of Political Science and Director of the UC, Washington Center. He says the impact of Whitman's ads may have leveled off.
"The money has worked up to a point, but now seems to have stopped and it looks like Jerry Brown's gamble, not to spend any money when people aren't paying attention, seems to be paying off," stated Cain.
So far, Whitman has spent $90 million of her own money into the campaign, has $10 million in reserves, while Brown raised almost all of his cash from outside sources with labor unions accounting for heavy donations.
