Woman Arrested In Novato Double Shooting

NOVATO (CBS 5 / KCBS / BCN) - A woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder for a shooting in Novato early Monday morning, according to police.

Novato resident Alessandra Coyle, 22, was arrested for allegedly shooting two men in the parking lot of Hamilton Marketplace Shopping Center, said Novato Police Department spokesman Lt. John McCarthy.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire in the parking lot of a Safeway, located at 5720 Nave Drive, around 12:15 a.m., McCarthy said.

When they arrived they found two men suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, McCarthy said.  One of them is a 27-year-old Hispanic male; the other is a 23-year-old white male, both residents of Novato, according to authorities.

The victims were transported to local hospitals and were still in serious condition at around 9 a.m., said McCarthy.

Coyle was booked into the Marin County jail.

"For our town this is very unusual and we've deployed a number of resources not only from our own agency, but also the Marin County Sheriff's Office, the Highway Patrol, and we even had mutual aid from another couple of agencies who were working a DUI project and assisted us," said Novato Police Lt. Dave Jeffries.
