Tech Report: Will Samsung's Tablet Give iPad A Run For Its Money?

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)— Samsung's Galaxy Tab 2 is ready for release next week, but the question remains - will it give Apple's iPad a run for its money?

I've been testing it out and I like it, but the iPad is still going to dominate the field.

It is interesting that Samsung did come out with a seven-inch tablet at the time there are rumors that Apple will be doing the same.

There seems to be pressure for Apple to come out with a tablet that is smaller than the iPad.

The new Samsung tablet is a bit big for a pocket, but it can fit inside a jacket pocket or easily into a purse. At $250 it's half the price of an iPad, but it's also not exactly a clone of the standard Apple has set.

KCBS Tech Report:

Fundamentally, it does the same things - like play movies, surf the web and check your email.

A first time tablet user might say they aren't prepared to spend the kind of money that Apple wants. So it would make sense as a purchase plus at its smaller size, you barely know that it's with you.
