Suspect Arrested In Oakland Birthday Party Robbery

OAKLAND (AP) -- Oakland Police say one man has been arrested and a second is being sought in connection with a home invasion robbery during a family birthday party.

The Oakland Tribune reports that two armed men stormed inside a home with 19 people attending the party Tuesday night and held up the group. People inside the home ranged from 2- to 69-years-old.

Police say officers responded when one person inside the house was able to call 911.

Officer Robert Trevino told the Tribune that during a search for the suspects, a 24-year-old man was arrested when an Alameda County sheriff's dog caught up with him in a backyard a few blocks away.

Trevino says some of the victims' property and a gun were recovered. The name of the suspect has not been released.

Police think the suspects may be responsible for other robberies in the area.
