Style Files: V Is For Vixen Manicure Tutorial

For the autumn/winter season of our award-winning Radio.com Style Files series, we invited the ladies of one of our favorite indie-pop bands to stand in as our models. Au Revoir Simone, who were on a break from touring in support of their new album Move In Spectrums, stopped by the Radio.com studios and let us work some beauty magic on them. The results were all tour-friendly looks for the already fashionable musicians.

V Is for Vixen Manicure

We put Heather D'Angelo with manicurist and nail artist Julie Kandalec — who has had an amazing year doing nail art fanatic Demi Lovato's look on the cover of Cosmo and putting polish on Marion Cotillard before the Met Ball — and the duo cooked up their own new look: the V is for Vixen manicure. Heather told us she's committed to wearing polish while on tour after she broke all her nails in "spectacular fashion" (tends to happen when you pound on synths and keyboards every night). Julie pointed Heather towards nudes — popular this season and good at masking chipping — but added a rock 'n' roll twist with the sharp black V.
