Solano Housing Markets Shows Signs Of Recovery
FAIRFIELD (KCBS) -- One of the worst hit areas in the foreclosure crisis has been Solano County, but lately the housing market there is starting to show signs of life.
Don McDonald sells real estate in the Fairfield area and he remembers when the dark cloud descended on the housing market in Solano County.
"Solano certainly was probably hit first and foremost not only hardest, but also earlier than many," he said.
KCBS' Dave Padilla Reports:
But now things are getting better, McDonald said. Recent statistics show that the start of housing construction jumped from September to October. There were 17 housing starts and even though it's a small number, it represents a breakthrough for Solano County.
McDonald, a member of the Northern Solano County Association of Realtors, said there's been an increase in new developments as well.
Housing prices are up in Solano County and McDonald said now the median income matches the median house price.
