Skateboarding Dog Visits AT&T Park
SAN FRANCISCO, (KCBS)_ If you think your dog knows some neat tricks, wait until you get a load of Tilman.
KCBS Reporter Mark Seelig checked out an amazing K-9 performance before hundreds of people along San Francisco's Waterfront.
Tilman isn't your average English bulldog. In fact, this five-year-old pooch likes to skateboard!
Owner Ron Davis says he recognized these special talents after watching Tilman take to a skateboard like most dogs take to a bone.
"When he was about eight-months old he started putting all fours on the board. I kind of wasted a lot of time playing with him and training him. He just gradually became better and better," says Davis.
Eventually, they posted a video of Tilman's boarding abilities on Youtube. It was a viral sensation. Then one day they were on Venice Beach and a man shot some footage and the next thing you know, Tilman was in an iPhone commercial.
"Once that happened, he kind of hit rock-dog status and the rest is history," added Davis.
Tilman's skateboarding has now become a full-time job for Davis. They ride around in a special RV, are sponsored by Natural Balance Pet Food, and show off in cities all around the United States.
One tourist marveled at the randomness of running into a "skillful dog" who skated right at him after his tour of Alcatraz. He called it fantastic.
Part of the swing through San Francisco involves a visit to AT&T Park this Sunday for the Giants annual Dog Days of Summer event where hundreds of dogs are allowed into the stadium to bark for their favorite team.
