Shooting outside party in Oakley kills 16-year-old, injures 3 others; Suspect at large
OAKLEY — Oakley police said they are searching for a suspect in a shooting outside a party Saturday night that left a 16-year-old dead and several others injured.
Oakley police said the shooting happened around 11:12 p.m. on the 400 block of Shannon Way.

When officers arrived, they found four people injured. One of them, a 16-year-old, died at the scene. The other three were taken to John Muir Walnut Creek with injuries that weren't life threatening.
According to police, they had been to the home 30 minutes before the shooting for a noise complaint. An 18-year-old at the home told officers she was trying to shut down the party but that kids were still showing up.
The officers offered to help shut the party down but she declined assistance. After the officers left, police said they learned from a witness that a group of about 20 to 30 kids showed up at the home but could not get in since the front door was locked.
They instead went through a side gate. Police said that not long after screaming was heard from inside the home and people were seen running out of the front door. About five to six shots were then heard in front of the home.
"You hear pop, pop, pop, pop, pop." said Mr. Williams, who lives across the street but declined to give his first name.
Police believe there was just one shooter in the deadly incident. Authorities are still searching for the gunman and the weapon used.
Mr. Williams shared his home surveillance footage that showed the aftermath. The video showed a chaotic scene where a lot of people could be heard screaming and yelling.
The video also showed Mr. Williams running across the street to help two of the injured victims.
"I was looking out the window. I heard somebody say they were shot. I instantly ran out the house, grabbed one of my tourniquets," Mr. Williams said. "When I was applying the tourniquet, (I said) 'Hey, focus on your breathing ' because panic was starting to set in. He was trying to worry about everything that was going around and I was like 'Hey, you've got to focus on controlling your breathing.'"
As he was applying the tourniquet on the boy who was shot in the leg and arm, Williams instructed others to help the teen who was shot in the upper body. He told them to use a t-shirt to apply pressure on the wound to stop the bleeding but that teen died shortly after.
"I happened to see the other kid pass away. Literally right there. He was taking his last breath. It was surreal," Mr. Williams said.
Police recovered five 9mm spent shell casings.
Neighbors said the house party started around 9:30 p.m. They estimated there were at least 100 teenagers there.
"A lot of girls had costumes, like the little skimpy ... the type that they'd always wear for Halloween and some boys had masks on. But then some people were just in regular street clothes," said Mrs. Williams, who also lives across the street and declined to provide her first name.
No one opened the door when KPIX attempted o get a comment from the people who live in the house that hosted the party.
Liberty Union High School District Superintendent Eric Volta confirmed that Oakley police confirmed to him that one student from the district died in the shooting and that three other students were wounded.
"Obviously we are saddened by the loss and offer the families involved our support. We will also support our students emotionally when they return to school tomorrow," Volta said in an email.
He also shared the below message that Liberty High School Principal Efa Huckaby sent out to the school community.
It was very disheartening to wake up to the news from Oakley Police Chief Beard that a 16 year old juvenile was shot and killed and three others suffered injuries from gunshot wounds on Saturday evening. We know that a traumatic event like this can send shockwaves through a community.
