SFPD Investigates Fatal Tenderloin Shooting
San Francisco Police are investigating a homicide in the Tenderloin District.
Officer Albie Esparza says one man was shot and killed in the 400 block of Jones Street at around 12:30 a.m. Thursday. Witnesses describe hearing about a dozen gunshots.
The victim was found in the middle of Jones Street, between O'Farrell and Ellis.
"The victim is a black male, around 30 to 40 years old," said Esparza. "He was shot multiple times, and was pronounced dead at the scene."
Witnesses reported seeing two young black men in their 20s, running east on O'Farrell after the shooting. One of them had dreadlocks. No other description has been given.
Esparza says a semi-automatic handgun, believed used in the shooting, has been recovered.
