Suspect Arrested In San Francisco Coffee Shop Killing
SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) -- Police arrested a man Friday on suspicion of shooting another man to death in a cafe in San Francisco's Tenderloin neighborhood on Thursday.
Terry Turner, 29, was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds at Jebena Coffee and Tea Co. at 990 Polk St. around 4:20 p.m. Thursday, according to police and the medical examiner's office.
The suspect, whose name has not been released, chased Turner to a back room in the cafe, shot him multiple times in the abdomen and head with a handgun, and then fled. The back room had two large picture windows that faced the street, police said.
Turner was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
A male clerk at the cafe, who declined to give his name, said that coworkers who were working at the time recalled seeing one man chase another into the shop, corner him, and shoot him in the full view of customers and staff.
"He just shot him and took off," the clerk said.
The men were believed to have had some kind of dispute outside prior to the shooting, he said.
A bag was also taken from Turner, according to police.
"It looked like a computer bag," the clerk said.
No cafe patrons were injured in the attack, police said.
Detectives interviewed witnesses and reviewed physical evidence, and eventually arrested a 30-year-old man believed to be the shooter.
