SamTrans Bus Passenger Pepper-Sprayed In Daly City

DALY CITY (CBS SF) - A passenger aboard a San Mateo County Transit bus in Daly City was pepper-sprayed Thursday morning by another passenger, according to a spokeswoman.

The incident involved a southbound Route 120 SamTrans bus traveling near Lake Merced Boulevard and South Park Plaza Drive at about 9:15 a.m., spokeswoman Christine Dunn said.

"Someone onboard the bus sprayed pepper spray on a passenger who was exiting the rear door of the bus," said Dunn.

The attacker ran away, and the person who was misted in the pain-inducing substance declined assistance, she said.

The bus operator pulled the vehicle over, opened the windows and radioed transit police to report to the scene, according to Dunn. The remaining passengers exited the bus.

The substance dissipated before transit police arrived, and the driver canceled the request for assistance. The bus resumed service within seven minutes.
