Salinas Police Block Streets For Armed Standoff
SALINAS (CBS SF) - Salinas police blocked traffic on Sherwood Drive because of an ongoing standoff with a male suspect who was holed up inside a home Monday afternoon, a police commander said.
"We believe he is armed," Salinas police Cmdr. David Shaw said.
The suspect appears to be by himself at a house at 45 Sherwood Drive and there were no hostages, Shaw said.
Traffic on Sherwood was halted between East Rossi and East Market streets after the standoff started about 10:30 a.m., Shaw said.
Negotiators were using loudspeakers to try to convince the suspect to come out, Shaw said.
