Bay Area Says Goodbye To Sizzling Temperatures, Prepares For Cool Down

(CBS SF) -- Forecasters can see an end to the Bay Area's October heat as a low pressure system builds along the Central Coast.

Gilroy saw a record high temperature of 98 degrees Monday breaking the old record of 96 degrees set in 1992.

Tuesday will be a couple degrees higher than Monday and well above average highs typically experienced this time of the year.

San Francisco will see a high of 88 degrees Tuesday. The Tri-Valley could reach the mid-90s while the beaches will stay in the low-80s.

Meteorologists expect a slow cooling trend to bring temperatures down beginning Wednesday.

Meanwhile, an area of low pressure to the south may bring showers by mid-week.

The Bay Area will see increasing clouds and cooler temperatures with a slight chance for rain on Saturday.
