Pleasanton Police on Wednesday said they arrested a man on suspicion of killing his 71-year-old mother.

Police said that around 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, a man walked into their department and told them that he had killed his mother after they had a dispute.

Officers went to the man's home on the 4000 block of Alvarado Street and found a woman who had been stabbed more than once.

There were also multiple kitchen knives found near the victim, police said.

Police arrested the 31-year-old man, and he was booked into the Santa Rita Jail on suspicion of homicide.

The victim was only identified as a 71-year-old woman.

Police said there were no previous reported incidents at the home and that they are still investigating the homicide.
