Pittsburg Man Hurt In Concord Shooting

CONCORD (CBS SF) -- A 20-year-old Pittsburg man was in stable condition after being shot in Concord Saturday night, a police sergeant said.

The man was in a car traveling on Peach Place near Ernst Way in Concord around 10:50 p.m. Saturday when multiple suspects approached. After a verbal clash between the suspects and people inside the car, the suspects shot into the vehicle, striking the 20-year-old, Sgt. Sam Staten said.

The victim was taken to a local hospital with multiple gunshot wounds but is expected to survive.

No other injuries were reported.

Police said the suspects' car, described as a gray four-door sedan, was parked near the scene of the shooting. The incident is not believed to be gang-related, Staten said.

The suspects are described only as Hispanic males wearing dark clothing. At least two of the suspects were armed at the time of the shooting, police said.

The gunfire erupted near a house party Saturday night, but it is unclear whether the shooting was related to the party, Staten said.

Police have not determined a motive for the shooting, and an investigation into the incident is underway.

Anyone with further information about the shooting or the suspects' whereabouts was asked to call Concord police at (925) 671-3030
