SANTA ROSA (BCN) -- A pedestrian died Friday night after being struck by a vehicle in Santa Rosa, police officials said.

Police were notified that a vehicle had hit a man at the intersection of Mendocino Avenue and Benton Street around 9:40 p.m.

The pedestrian was transported to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, police said.

Police shut down southbound Mendocino Avenue for about four and a half hours to conduct an investigation, police said.
