Oakland Shooting Hospitalizes 1 Man

OAKLAND (BCN) - A man is in grave condition at a local hospital after being shot near Lake Merritt in Oakland on Friday night, a police spokesman said.

The shooting was reported at 8:59 p.m. Friday in the 200 block of International Boulevard, Oakland police Officer Jeff Thomason said.

Officers arrived to find the victim, a 24-year-old Oakland man, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Police originally said the man had succumbed to his injuries, but Thomason said he is still alive but was in grave condition at a local hospital as of this afternoon.

The man's identity is not yet being released by police.

No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting and no suspect information was immediately available. The motive for the shooting has also not been determined, Thomason said.
