NTSB: Wing Malfunctioned In Crash That Killed San Jose Pilot At Reno Air Races

RENO (CBS SF) -- The NTSB is pointing to a wing malfunction as the cause of a crash at the Reno Air Races that killed a San Jose pilot.

A preliminary report by the bureau says part of the right wing malfunctioned, causing part of the wing to fall off. The plane then rolled to the right and crashed.

The crash occurred while 64-year old San Jose pilot Lee Behel was qualifying for a race.

Behel was a retired Air Force pilot.
