Man Shot While Sitting In Car In SF SoMa Dies Of Injuries
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - A man who was shot early Saturday morning while sitting in his car in San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, a police spokesman said Wednesday.
The victim, identified by the medical examiner's office as John Moore, 23, was sitting in his car in the 1000 block of Harrison Street near Sixth Street when he was shot shortly before 2:30 a.m. Saturday, police said.
According to the preliminary investigation, two suspects approached the car, opened fire, then fled on foot.
Moore was struck several times by the gunfire. He was transported to a hospital where he died Tuesday, police spokesman Lt. Troy Dangerfield said.
Witnesses provided information that enabled an officer to arrest one of the suspects and recover a handgun, Dangerfield said.
Police have not yet released the suspect's name, and the second suspect remains at large, he said.
The shooting is being investigated by the Police Department's Southern Station and the gang task force, Dangerfield said.
