Man Shot, Killed Near Oakland's Eastmont Mall

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- A man was fatally shot in the 7200 block of Bancroft Avenue near the Eastmont Mall in East Oakland Monday afternoon, according to police.

Oakland police spokeswoman Cynthia Perkins said it appears that the man was shot at while driving a car around 12:10 p.m.

Passersby took the injured man to the nearby Oakland police substation at the Eastmont Mall, she said.

Paramedics were called, and the man was transported to a local hospital, where he died, Perkins said.

She said she did not yet have the victim's name or know the motive for the shooting.
