1 Dead, 1 Hurt In Separate Oakland Shootings
OAKLAND (CBS SF) - A man was shot dead on an Oakland street early Wednesday morning, while another man was injured in a separate shooting, according to Oakland Police.
Police responded to reports of shots fired and a man down at 3:35 a.m. Wednesday on 40th St. between Market and Lusk streets, police said. 40th St., a major thoroughfare in the area, was closed for a time during the investigation.
The victim was found along 40th St. suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to police.
The death marks Oakland's 39th homicide of 2012.
Earlier Wednesday morning, at about 3 a.m., police responded to a shooting near the corner of 55th Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard in East Oakland.
A male victim was found suffering from a gunshot wound to his right shoulder. He was transported to a hospital in stable condition, police said.
No arrests were made in either shooting.
