KCBS In Depth: Vision Zero, The Plan To End Pedestrian Deaths On San Francisco Streets
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) — In 2012 a record high of 946 pedestrian injuries were reported. In 2013, there was six-year high report for pedestrian fatalities: 21 were struck and killed, along with four bicyclists.
KCBS' Patti Reising and Ed Cavagnaro sit down with Nicole Schneider, the executive director for Walk SF', San Francisco's only pedestrian advocacy nonprofit group, to discuss the rising number of pedestrian injuries and death and Vision Zero—a plan, started in Sweden, to reduce the number of deaths to zero in ten years.
