Guests Evacuated At Hotel Fire In Rohnert Park

ROHNERT PARK (BCN) -- Hotel guests were evacuated after a blaze erupted at an inn Wednesday afternoon, according to the Rohnert Park Police and Fire Services.

At about 1:56 p.m., public safety officers and firefighters responded to a fire at the Budget Inn at 6298 Redwood Drive, a fire dispatcher said.

Authorities arrived at the scene and found heavy smoke and flames pouring out of an employee break room on the first floor of the hotel, according to the dispatcher.

Guests were immediately ordered to vacate their rooms.

Personnel from Santa Rosa, Rancho Adobe, Rincon Valley and Goldridge Fire Departments assisted in extinguishing the flames, a fire dispatcher said.

The flames damaged five hotel rooms, and a fire dispatcher said that just one guest was transported to a local hospital after experiencing difficulty breathing.

Building inspectors and firefighters estimated the damage to amount to $200,000.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, a fire dispatcher said.

The Budget Inn was not immediately available for comment.
