Good Question: Is Name Brand Gas Better?

(CBS 5) -- As gasoline reaches $4.00 a gallon in the Bay Area, there is a lot of shopping for cheap places to fill up. Greg Priestly asked this Good Question: Is there any difference between name brand and independent gas?

ANSWER: According to Sunny Campbell, Executive Director of the California Service Station and Automotive Repair Association, there are significant differences in gasoline in California. Top Tier Gas, which comes primarily from known refineries, contains a number of additives and detergents. Gas from independent stations does not.
