SAN JOSE, Calif. (KCBS) _ An 8-year-old girl is dead and 10 others were injured after a fire broke out in a San Jose apartment complex on Hamilton Avenue early Sunday morning.

The girl, identified by the coroner's office, as Adileni Gomez Macedo, died after a three-alarm fire broke out around 1:42 a.m. Sunday.

A San Jose fire official said after knocking the fire down, firefighters found the girl unconscious in the back bedroom of the apartment.

She was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead a short while later.

Officials said the girl, from Durham, N.C., was visiting relatives when the fire broke out.

The exact cause of the little girl's death has not been determined, but a coroner's investigator said an autopsy is planned for Monday.

The ten other residents of the complex who were injured were treated primarily for minor injuries.

The fire was one of three that hit the South Bay Sunday morning.

About an hour after the blaze on Hamilton Avenue, firefighters got a call about a fire at a duplex on Whitton Avenue, near South King Road.

The two-alarm blaze was controlled in about 20 minutes. No injuries were reported.

And then, around 4:20 a.m., firefighters were called to another blaze, a stovetop fire at the Miranda Villa Senior Apartments on Forest Avenue.

San Jose Fire Captain Debbie Ward said the fire tripped the building's fire alarm and about 150 residents were evacuated while firefighters extinguished the two-alarm blaze.

One person suffered from smoke inhalation, but Ward said there were no other injuries.
