A 15-year-old boy was stabbed near a west Santa Rosa park during a gang-related confrontation Wednesday evening.

Police say the boy, a Santa Rosa resident, was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.

Police received a call at 6:40 p.m. about a fight in the area of Peterson Lane Park. They stopped a car leaving the scene and determined that one of its three occupants had been stabbed.

The victim and his two companions said several males had confronted them, shouted gang challenges and chased them into the street.

Police say one stabbed the teen victim, and the suspects then drove off.
