French-Backed Energy Team Enters America's Cup In SF
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Brothers Loick and Bruno Peyron have announced Energy Team's challenge for the 34th America's Cup.
The brothers are noted for their exploits in ocean racing and in giant multihulls. The next America's Cup will be sailed on San Francisco Bay in 72-foot, wing-sailed catamarans in 2013.
Loick Peyron sailed with Alinghi of Switzerland in the 2010 America's Cup. The Swiss catamaran was routed in two races by BMW Oracle Racing's trimaran.
Energy Team is backed by the Yacht Club de France, is the fourth announced challenger and the second from France.
