Four Arrested Following String Of BART Robberies
OAKLAND (AP) -- Bay Area Rapid Transit officials say four men have been arrested for their alleged roles in robbing BART riders.
BART police say after arresting Donail James at a San Francisco BART station Saturday, the 23-year-old Oakland man has been charged with four counts of robbery and one count of possession of stolen property.
In a separate incident, BART police arrested 23-year-old Landon Sims of San Pablo, 20-year-old Antonio Thomas and 28-year-old Clifton Hall, both of Richmond, after they allegedly tried to rob a man at a Richmond BART station Monday.
It's not known if any of the suspects had retained attorneys.
A BART spokesman said despite the incidents involved the four suspects, violent crime on the transit system is down 26 percent and robberies are down 30 percent compared to last year.
