Emeryville Officer Thrown From Motorcycle In Crash

EMERYVILLE (BCN) - An Emeryville police motorcyclist who was stopped while pedestrians crossed the street was thrown from the bike when a motorist apparently failed to stop Tuesday evening, police said.

The officer was stopped on San Pablo Avenue at 43rd Street about 5:30 p.m., along with a police officer in a marked patrol car, to allow pedestrians the right of way.

According to police, a motorist traveling north did not slow and stop, subsequently colliding into the rear of the motorcycle and causing the officer to be thrown to the roadway.

The officer was treated at the scene by paramedics and was later taken to Highland Hospital in Oakland for additional treatment of injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

The motorist, who did not suffer any injuries in the crash, was not arrested and was allowed to leave the scene after the California Highway Patrol concluded its on-scene investigation, police said.
