East Bay's Best Local Produce Delivery

Joining a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program is an excellent way for consumers to purchase farm-fresh fruits and vegetables that come straight from local farms. The program is a great benefit to the community because it supports local agriculture and encourages members to engage in a healthier, more sustainable lifestyle. In the East Bay, boxes filled with the freshest and most delicious seasonal crops are delivered usually on a weekly basis to locations throughout the East Bay, including Berkeley, Oakland, Pleasanton and Walnut Creek. The following are among the best CSAs that serve the East Bay.

Among the crops grown on the 133-acre farm are Meyer lemons, Pink Lady apples and several types of apricots. Frog Hollow offers many types of options for its CSA program, with prices starting at just $25. Although the majority of East Bay delivery sites are in the larger communities of Berkeley and Oakland, the farm also serves Albany, Danville, El Cerrito, Emeryville and Piedmont. In addition to the aforementioned cities, the farm's home delivery service ($7 per week) also serves the small Berkeley Hills community of Kensington. Its CSA program offers members weekly or bi-monthly deliveries, with an entry-level price of $72 for four weeks. A recent delivery box of organic crops contained broccoli, carrots, celery root, oranges, bok choi, rosemary, potatoes and leeks, with enough to feed a family of up to four.

terra bella farm

Terra Bella Family Farm
7637 Foothill Road
Pleasanton, CA 94566
(925) 202-8020

Self described as the only organic family farm in Pleasanton, Terra Bella is a local success story. The business started in 2006 on just 1.25 acres of land, but by virtue of hard work and selling produce at local farmers' markets, has moved to a larger farm in the Sunol Valley. Its CSA program has also grown and features pick-up locations in Pleasanton and Livermore. A delivery box may feature seasonal organic produce such as artichokes, broccoli, cauliflower and green beans, with prices starting at $48 for bi-monthly deliveries. In addition to its CSA program, Terra Bella sells produce to regional restaurants, including the award-winning Restaurant at Wente Vineyards in Livermore.
