Driver Arrested In SF Mission Street Hit-And-Run
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - A man suspected of striking a pedestrian with his truck and then fleeing the scene in San Francisco on Monday evening has been arrested.
Craig Sheppard, 55, was arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run, police said.
The collision was reported at 5:48 p.m. at Mission and 13th streets, police spokesman Sgt. Daryl Fong said.
Fong said a 47-year-old woman was walking south on Mission and crossing 13th Street in the crosswalk on a green light when she was hit by a white truck.
The driver, who was making a right turn onto eastbound 13th Street, accelerated away afterward. Sheppard was identified as the suspect and later located in the city's Ingleside neighborhood, where he was arrested, Fong said.
The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for head and leg injuries that are considered life-threatening, Fong said.
Sheppard was booked into county jail on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, he said.
