3 People Killed In Shooting At Denver-Area Walmart

THORNTON, Colorado (CBS SF) -- Three people were killed in a shooting at a Walmart store in a suburb of Denver, Colorado Wednesday night.

The shooting happened at a Walmart in Thornton, a city just north of Denver, shortly after 6 p.m. local time.

Thornton police initially said two men were killed and that woman was injured and taken to a hospital. A few hours later, police said the woman had died of her injuries.

Around 11:20 p.m. Mountain Time, police released a photo of a man and a vehicle of interest.

Police said the incident was not an active shooter situation, but said no suspects were in custody Wednesday. KMGH-TV reported two male suspects were still at large.

In an earlier tweet just before 6:30 p.m. local time, Thornton police said there were "multiple parties down" and urged people to stay away from the area of Grant Street, south of 102nd Avenue in Thornton.

Dozens of police cars and emergency vehicles converged at the scene. CBS Denver reported a police SWAT team had arrived at the site.

CBS Denver reported that some 48 people who were at the Walmart during the shooting were transported by buses to the Thornton Police Department headquarters, where they were reunited with family members.
