ConsumerWatch: Finding The Right Accesory Is Just A Click Away
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5) -- For most women finding the right outfit is just the beginning. But no look is complete until the right accessories match the outfit.
A new website called Send the Trend is making it easy for the accessory challenged.
It's like having a personal stylist said user Lili Balfour. "I don't know how to dress myself," she said. "I constantly get advice on what to wear." With a few clicks, Send the Trend finds the right accessory that matches Balfour's outfit.
"We really felt like there is a huge need for this because the current state of the economy a lot of people are really not focusing on big purchases," said website creator Divya Gugnani.
Each piece retails for $29.95 said Gugnani. But for Balfour the convenience is more important than the cost. "It's convenient because you could go online and by just answering 3 or 4 questions I think it took me 90 seconds and I had some really good picks," she said.
The website chooses an accessory according to a style survey users take.
With Project Runway winner Christian Siriano at the helm, Balfour said she is confident she'll find the perfect piece.
But CBS 5 ConsumerWatch asked San Francisco fashion expert Keylee Sanders to weigh in.
On the website, Sanders found a necklace that she was happy to pay $29.95 for. "This I think is really, really pretty," she said. It's a piece you could dress up or down." But there were some pieces that didn't make the cut.
Overall, Sanders said the concept of the website is brilliant. It's like having a celebrity stylist for a fraction of the cost.
To order accessories, users must become members. Gugnani said there is no monthly charge. The website also added a blog where users can get tips on how to expand their accessory collection.
