Broken Hydrant Floods Sacramento Suburb With 120,000 Gallons Of Water
ANTELOPE (CBS SF) — A broken fire hydrant shot over 120,000 gallons of water into the sky for more than two hours in a Sacramento suburb early Thursday morning.
Crews first arrived at the scene in the Antelope area a little before 4 a.m. after reports that water was gushing as high as a light pole.
It took crews a little over two hours until they were able to shut off the water. In that time, about 1,000 gallons a minute of water flowed out – meaning about 120,000 gallons of water were lost.
