Bicyclist Killed In Campbell Crash

CAMPBELL (CBS SF) -- A bicyclist died after being hit by a vehicle in Campbell Thursday night.

Police responded to a report of the traffic collision on West Campbell Avenue, just east of La Pradera Drive about 6:25 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers found the 56-year-old male cyclist in the middle of Campbell Avenue. Emergency personnel arrived on scene and attempted to revive him, but their efforts were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 28-year-old driver remained at the scene after the collision and cooperated with police investigators.

The name of the deceased man was not being released until the family had been notified, police said.

The cause of the collision remained under investigation and anyone with information was asked to contact Sgt. Richard Shipman at (408) 866-2710.
