Bay Area Water Supplies Get Boost From Big Storm
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- After a dry start to the year, the recent four day rainstorm helped boost to the Bay Area's water supply and the Sierra snowpack.
According to California Department of Water resources hydrologist, Maury Roos, water levels are back up near average for this time of year.
"The first half of February was quite dry. What this storm series has done has put us back on the normal track for the month," said Roos.

With more winter weather forecast toward the end of the week, Roos expects the leading indicator of our water supply, the Sierra snowpack, to yield even higher numbers for the water supply when the next survey is done March 1st.
"You will have gained at least ten percent over the amount we have on the ground on the first of February," said Roos. It should be noted that amount was already 115 percent of normal.
Roos thanks the storms in the final months of 2010 for the water content being ahead of normal this year and that it's a good sign after years of drought. Only time will tell as for whether this will be the end of California's drought.
