According To Science, California Is The 'Most Braggodocious' State

Is it just us, or is California always taking first place in all the studies? (#humblebrag)

We might have thought it, but now science confirms it: our state is the most self-content in all the Union.

Based on a survey done by HeyLets after being inspired by researchers at the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard, some states tend to self-promote quite frequently in their status updates, despite the fact that that's something people kind of hate.

HeyLets' study ran with the idea, and asked 2,500 American social media users to round up how many posts they typically draft on "potentially self-promotional topics" like vacations, the famous people they're hanging with, and how often they woke up like this. They then rated their posts with the distinctions "'frequently,' 'almost always,' or 'always.'"

Unsurprisingly, California is home to the proudest posters, who reported that an amazing 77% of their own social media contributions were self-promoting.

Here are the top ten "most braggadocious" states, via HeyLets:

#1: California (77% percent frequently engage in self-promotion)
#2: Washington (76%)
#3: Nevada: (72%)
#4: Maryland (70%)
#5: New Hampshire (69%)
#6: Illinois (67%)
#7: Virginia (66%)
#8: Oklahoma (64%)
#9: New Jersey (60%)
#10: New York (58%)

As for the other end of the spectrum?

Utah and Oregon, who each reported less than a third of "self-promoting" (22% and 26%, respectively).

Maybe we should give them lessons, since we're the best at it.
