OAKLAND (BCN) -- The body of an 87-year-old man was found in Oakland on Monday afternoon, and homicide investigators are looking into the circumstances of the death.

Police were called to 1932 51st Ave. around 2:50 p.m. Monday to investigate a report of an unexplained death, police said.

They arrived to find the body of Oakland resident Warren Thompson, who had suffered wounds to his face, police said.

Because of the wounds, homicide investigators were called to the scene to investigate the death.
