4 Reindeer Arrive At San Francisco Zoo
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- A group of reindeer will be able to rest and get ready for the holidays at their temporary home in San Francisco.
As part of the San Francisco Zoo's holiday celebration, four reindeer arrived at the zoo Saturday.
The animals, trucked in from the Reindeer Ranch in Redmond, Oregon, will be on display at the zoo until Jan. 1.
Mike Gillaspie, owner of the ranch, told the San Francisco Chronicle that the four reindeer are all about 18 months old.
While spending the holidays at the zoo, the reindeer, named Holly, Velvet, Peppermint and Belle, will be fed 10 pounds of hay and 5 pounds of grain every day.
