3 Oakland Shootings Leave 1 Dead, 3 Hurt

OAKLAND (BCN) -- Police are investigating three shootings that shook Oakland on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, including one in East Oakland that left a man dead, a patrol officer said.

Three people were injured in the other two shootings, according to Officer J. Moore.

The fatal shooting was reported about 3:50 p.m. Monday at 80th Avenue and International Boulevard, Moore said. The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A second man was shot about an hour later at 14th Avenue and East 27th Street, Moore said. He was taken to a local hospital and listed in stable condition.

Then about 7:50 p.m., two more people were shot in the 5700 block of East 17th Street, according to Moore. The victims were taken to a local hospital and listed in stable condition.

It was too soon to tell what the motives might have been or if any of the shootings were related, Moore said.

No arrests had been made in any of the cases, and suspect descriptions were not immediately available.

Police had not released the identity of the man who was killed.
