3 Hospitalized After Car Plunges Into Santa Rosa Creek Bed
SANTA ROSA (CBS/BCN) -- Three people were injured Friday afternoon after the vehicle they were traveling in veered off a Santa Rosa roadway and tumbled into a creek bed 25 feet below, according to the fire department.
At about 2:10 p.m. Friday, firefighters from Santa Rosa and Rincon Valley arrived on the scene of the crash at Calistoga Road south of St. Helena Road.
Responders found a sedan in the creek bed and three victims -- a woman and two girls, ages 10 and 6 -- who sustained moderate to serious injuries from the crash, according to the Santa Rosa fire department.
After stabilizing the three victims in the creek bed, firefighters and paramedics removed them using rope rescue systems and ladders.
The woman and the 10-year-old girl were transported by ambulance to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, and the 6-year-old girl was flown by a California Highway Patrol helicopter to Children's Hospital in Oakland.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation by the CHP.
