SAN JOSE (KCBS) — San Jose police were looking for a suspected hit-and-run driver who fled the scene after a head-on crash that killed two women early Monday morning, authorities said.
Around 3:15 a.m. a Toyota Yaris was turning left onto North First Street, near the Mineta San Jose International Airport, when a Mercedes sedan slammed into the front the car, police said.

The hit-and-run collision happened just minutes later, police said. The victims were reportedly on their way to work at Mineta Airport.
The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver was transported to a hospital and was pronounced dead there.
The driver of the Mercedes left the car and fled the scene on foot. Police said they didn't have a description of the suspect as there were no witnesses.
The southbound side of North First Street was closed for a time and traffic in the area rerouted to Metro Drive as the crash was investigated.
