2-Alarm Fire Destroys San Jose Home
SAN JOSE (BCN) -- A two-alarm fire destroyed a house in San Jose Thursday morning, a fire captain said.
The fire was reported at 9:02 a.m. at a home in the 2500 block of Senter Road, and the initial reports indicated there might be people trapped inside the home, San Jose fire Capt. Steve Forman said.
Firefighters arrived four minutes later and saw 20-foot flames coming from the single-story, Victorian-style home, Forman said.
Firefighters went into the rear of the home to look for people inside and quickly determined no one was trapped, he said.
The fire took more than an hour to extinguish, and was finally controlled about 10:10 a.m., Forman said.
The blaze caused the evacuation of at least six people from multiple outbuildings on the property, structures that Forman described as small bungalows.
No one was injured by the fire but the house "is a complete loss," he said.
Firefighters remained at the property as of 10:15 a.m. to ensure the fire did not re-ignite, Forman said.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
