OAKLAND (BCN) - A 16-year-old boy was injured in a shooting in East Oakland Thursday morning, and two suspects believed to be responsible were arrested minutes later, a police spokeswoman said.
The shooting was reported at 8:36 a.m. in the 1100 block of 71st Avenue, Oakland police Officer Holly Joshi said.
An officer witnessed the shooting and was able to arrest the suspects, both males, about four minutes later on an Interstate Highway 880 off-ramp to 66th Avenue, Joshi said.
The victim was taken to a hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening, she said.
The names and ages of the suspects were not immediately available, Joshi said. She said police are investigating whether the shooting was gang-related.
