14-Year-Old Suspected In Oakland Sex Assaults Arrested

OAKLAND (CBS 5) - A teenage boy suspected in a pair of sexual assaults earlier this month has been arrested, according to Oakland Police.

14-year-old Brionn Glasper is suspected in two sexual assaults and robberies that took place in Oakland on the nights of January 6 and 12.

In the first incident, police said a woman was approached on the 1200 block of Market Street by male suspect who simulated a firearm and demanded her wallet. The person then forced her to an isolated area, where he sexually assaulted her.

The second attack happened on the 600 block of 11th Street when a woman was approached by a person on a bicycle. Once again, the suspect simulated having a handgun and demanded the woman's purse. He forced her to an isolated area where he sexually assaulted her.

Oakland police spokeswoman Johnna Watson said that it is unusual for them to release the identity of a minor in an ongoing investigation.

Oakland police spokeswoman Johnna Watson said the teen surrendered at about 9:45 a.m.

"This is very good news for our community," Watson said.

She said she thinks "a lot of pressure from the community" after police publicized the crimes over the weekend led him to surrender.

Watson said it appears the attacker simulated a handgun in both incidents.

She said the case is "unusual" because of the suspect's young age.
