OAKLAND (CBS SF) - A man who was killed while walking down a street in East Oakland on Sunday night has been identified as 32-year-old Antoine Knox of Oakland, police said Monday.

Knox and his girlfriend were walking west in the 6600 block of Bancroft Avenue at about 10 p.m. Sunday when someone approached them and suddenly began shooting at Knox, police spokeswoman Officer Holly Joshi said.

Paramedics responded but couldn't revive Knox, and he was pronounced dead from gunshot wounds at 10:21 p.m., Joshi said.

Knox's girlfriend has grazed by a bullet and suffered minor injuries, according to Joshi.
