This is not what the Oakland A's had in mind when they clinched the American League West division title last week, so it will be up to the one veteran starting pitcher left -- Brett Anderson -- to make sure the team extends its season Tuesday night, for at least one more game.
The Oakland A's lost the first two games of their American League Division Series on the road to the Detroit Tigers, but now they come back home for the rest of the series. It'll be up to these young Athletics to extend this series as long as they can at the Coliseum.
The Oakland A's certainly don't want to return to Oakland down two games to none, so the team will have to show the season-long resiliency they've demonstrated all of 2012 on Sunday at Comerica Park. Rookie Tommy Milone gets the ball for the team as they look to even up their playoff series with the Tigers.
The Oakland Athletics are back in the playoffs for the first time since 2006, and they have a chance to get some revenge on the team that knocked them out in the ALCS that year: the Detroit Tigers. But it won't be easy in Game 1 against Justin Verlander.
