Wragg Fire Evacuations Lifting As Fire Burns Nearly 7,000 Acres, Smoke Carries Miles Away
SONOMA COUNTY (CBS13) — The Wragg Fire has burned nearly 7,000 acres since it started on Wednesday, and is 15 percent contained.
One outbuilding, a tent trailer and a structure have been damaged, while 200 structures are still being threatened.
Air units couldn't seem to fill up fast enough as they made drop after drop attacking the tough to reach fire. With access difficult on foot, the aerial assault is proving critical.
Meanwhile, there was still plenty to do below as flare-ups sent crews scrambling.
A woman named Beth evacuated her home last night and spent the night in her fifth wheel wondering how her home on Quail Canyon Road would fare.
"I didn't sleep a wink," she said.
Her house was spared, but it was close.
Highway 128 remains shut down between Wragg Canyon and Pleasants Valley Road.
